Bob, I suspect that ACR in your Ps version may not recognise Raw file edits
from LR3. You won't be able to update its engine to the same standard
either.  New files developed with LR3 will use the new 2010 engine by
default. I am unsure if you can opt for the existing 2003 engine. You can
choose with older files.
However if you are just using occasionally using Ps for more complex editing
(e.g. using layers) then it will continue just as it does now when you are
working with PSDs or TIFFs etc exported from your new LR. CS5 does have some
cool new tools of course, but as long as your current version does what you
want, there should be no problems apart from the Raw incompatibility.
Possibly Bridge may have difficulty seeing the LR3 developed Raw files?.
