Jim,
Have you actually held a Nikkor 200mm f/4 in your hands? It's very small and
light for a lens of that focal length. By two and three orders of magnitude
(or reduction, I guess) it's smaller than the lenses being discussed here.
Might a monopod from the camera not be enough?
