Well, I asked :)

I'm shooting film- mostly Tri-X- so it's probably a moot point. Sonny, your
comment "sooner or later you will buy an M9" is probably accurate; at that
point it may make a difference, I don't know.

I like my Nikon system and have no complaints about the image quality of the
D700, D3x, and the Nikkor lenses. I've always felt that one should buy the
best glass one can afford but in the case of the Leica system I find myself
dithering as I'm not sure yet how much I will use it. That said, yesterday
I hiked across the desert in southwestern Afghanistan with body armor on and
it was a relief not to be burdened with a Nikon SLR and a Yuban-sized zoom
(that was a good one, Mark). I made do with the 50 lux and it was a bit
liberating to not only be relieved of the physical burden but of the mental
one as well (what lens for this shot?, etc).

I hope my photography follows along the path that Lluis is on; that's the
sort of work I'd like to do so consequently feel that the Leica system will
become the chief weapon in my arsenal. The question is "Does the image
quality difference between the Leica and Zeiss lens justify the cost
difference?" At the end of the day, I guess I am the only one who can
answer that question. In the last few months I've spent an obscene amount
of money on equipment with the assembly of the underwater system so I am
getting a bit alarmed at the cash out-flow.

Apologies to Brian for tossing this stink grenade.

Wendy
