Both of them could do with just a touch of additional processing IMHO. Assuming you are a Lightroom user, then my approach would be to increase the 'Blacks' value a touch and/or alter the curve, reducing the values of the shadows and darks and increasing the values of the highlights to make an 'S' shaped curve. Fairly subtle adjustments are needed. Finally, I would just slightly alter the brightness and contrast settings: increasing the contrast slightly and adjusting the brightness to get the highlights where I wanted them. I would also burn in the bottom corners, or maybe even use the vignette tool to darken all of the corners slightly yo draw even more attention to those beautifully back-lit catcus spines. I have the feeling that there is a beautiful print in there just asking to be teased out... best wishes Mark Mark Pope, Swindon, Wilts UK Homepage http://www.monomagic.co.uk Blog http://www.monomagic.co.uk/blog Picture a week (2010) http://www.monomagic.co.uk/index.php?gallery=paw/2010 Picture a week (2009) http://www.monomagic.co.uk/index.php?gallery=paw/2009 (2008) http://www.monomagic.co.uk/index.php?gallery=paw/2008 Peter Klein wrote: > Desert hikes can be wonderful late on a winter afternoon, when I can get > gorgeous backlight like this. > Black and white... > <http://www.flickr.com/photos/24844563 at > N04/4366851667/sizes/o/in/photostream/> > > ...or color? > <http://www.flickr.com/photos/24844563 at > N04/4366851669/sizes/o/in/photostream/> > > > M8, 35/2 Summicron IV.
