Desert hikes can be wonderful late on a winter afternoon, when I can get 
gorgeous backlight like this.

M8, 35/2 Summicron IV.  I shaded the lens with my hand, but not quite 
enough. I never saw the flare on the camera screen. A bit of digital 
filtering in post-processing minimized it in the B&W.
