Since you put it that way, who says it is an outside influence?
Having once tried to trace at how State identifies religious intolerance 
around the world, I'm not surprised at this kind of jejune interpretation of 
social dynamics.
How ill prepared we are to confront these issues was made painfully obvious 
in our own country not too long ago at Waco.
That Justice thought it could send a field agent, armed with a Bible, to 
negotiate with D. Koresh, with a battle of interpretations, was just too 
painful to watch.
We haven't matured much past that event in 1993.
