I paid less, but then again, I bought about 5 years ago for my M6.  I looked
up the HK version.. $55 ( but the same guy will sell you one for $80 too.,,
Your choice) ....
 Price at Leica  of $300 is still 5x++

The Leica 1.25 provides a good view, but not full field... you are looking
through what is essentially a telescope.... you get the central view.

It also darkens the overall VF  image by what I thought was 1-2
stops.....you would expect the same from the HK version... it is optics....

I got stuck with my .8 version,, do not buy it.  I suspect the HK 1.25 is
probably pretty good......and for almost $300 less, you have $300 less to
lose if you do not like it......

just looking, I only found leica new for over $300, minimum...

I wonder about visual sharpness, brightness, can you see the whole  
field?
