When I get home I will look into the sensor stuff from Kodak to see how different their sensor for Leica may be to those for their other clients. I only know of Dalsa and Kodak making these large sensors. I also believe they are all CCD types. Perhaps other people can correct this if not true. Anyway, my Leica experience leads me to?expect the S2 to be better than the competition, but not cheaper. I will not be able to afford one though. cheers, Frank ----- Original Message ---- From: Geoff Hopkinson <hopsternew at gmail.com> To: Leica Users Group <lug at leica-users.org> Sent: Thursday, 30 July, 2009 12:01:48 PM Subject: Re: [Leica] S2 release dates and prices Frank D, I have no experience with medium format digital at all. "clip in" anti-aliasing filters sounds horrendous. In any event I'm just passing information as expressed by Leica of course. As I understand it, the sensor design is new and unique. Those of engineering bent may care to look at the Kodak specifications. US dollar prices now released for anyone that cares to see them. It certainly will generate some interest once production camera output becomes available. The lens data published thus far indicates a superb quality starting point. 2009/7/30 FRANK DERNIE <frank.dernie at btinternet.com> > > FWIW I believe none of the MF backs have an anti-aliasing filter, or it is > a clip in option, so this benefit, enjoyed by DMR and M8 will not be one > compared to the competition for the S2. > Frank > > > > ----- Original Message ---- > From: Geoff Hopkinson <hopsternew at gmail.com> > To: Leica Users Group <lug at leica-users.org> > Sent: Thursday, 30 July, 2009 9:21:58 AM > Subject: Re: [Leica] S2 release dates and prices > > Frank, Leica does not expect you to be their market for the S2 system.
