I'll definitely look into those possibilities.

Have you used any in particular
that do a fine job
in simulating various B&W film type
grain structures
and
spectral responses?
Silver Efex Pro really does a terrific job in those two respects.

Most of the other tweaks in Efex Pro are already available in LR.
