Mark, Lightroom 2 is a dedicated image cataloging program and it does that
much better than than Bridge which is fundamantally a file browser.
LR2 shares the same Raw processing engine as Adobe Camera Raw and is every
bit as sophisticated and effective on Raw images.
The difference is that LR has set out to be a more efficient work flow
designed for photographers. All of the users here have noted that it
performs most or all of what they want to do to digital images in a more
efficient way. For when you want to go further on specific images then you
can move to Photoshop as desired.
I've only just got LR2 but already I can see much improved processes for
actually importing and managing my (1000's already!) photos while I can
still do all of the stuff I routinely do in ACR.

> Photoshop and Nikon NX are "editors".
> Not the first term I'd come up with to describe "enlarger" or darkroom.

> editing
> picking a picture out. Not printing it.
> Me when I'm in the darkroom I don't think what I'm doing is editing.
> I'm printing. Editing takes place on the light table.
> But maybe the semantic unclarity from Adobe is less then unintentional.
> They want you to buy both. Of your a tad confused so much the better.
> My light table by the way was in my darkroom it was 2x4 foot and I'd spend

> Not the very best neg you've ever made in your whole life that's what.
