Leica themselves promote Capture One as the best Raw convertor for the M8 and of course it is provided at no additional charge with the camera. You can also upgrade from that copy to some extent. Capture One can also be obtained as a free trial version. As Leo says Lightroom does a fine job and you'll see many examples in pictures posted here. I think that generally, in this group there is a lot of support for Lightroom, especially for its powerful organisational features and productivity benefits. The Raw convertor that is included with Photoshop (Adobe Camera Raw) uses the same engine. Lightroom does better for those features mentioned but not for the quality of its Raw conversions alone. Photoshop has more powerful tools for more complex image editing after the conversions but many find that they use little of that capability. You can obtain free trial copies of the Adobe programmes if you would like to test them for yourself. There is a considerable industry for third party companies to provide plug ins to those programs for functions like the bw conversion too. You can also source some tutorials on-line. There is more support out there for LR & PS in that regard. Personally I have not learnt the Capture One interface, although it sits on my computer. I do use ACR every day, then go into Photoshop when needed. I guess I am trying to say that you may like to consider the other factors in addition to different Raw convertors' output basic qualities.
