But I had forgotten that I had reinstalled Java again. I run FreeMind (a mind mapping application) that needs Java and I had reinstalled Java, forgetting the havoc it plays with Lightroom. After I uninstalled Java again (I can run Freemind under Linux instead) Lightroom starts up time after time and seems to run fast enough (for me). There's something about this java-junk. It's been disturbing Lightroom (for me). You're right ... it does help to click on the X ... it just takes ages to go away. I've gotta pack now. ... No more experiments. I'll just stock up on memory cards and not bother off-loading while I'm away (or at least off-load knowing I don't have to re-use my cards). Take care and good luck!
