I have had no problems with leaving the menu unchanged for that one. Some Zeiss M mount lens have a mount screw in the wrong place and can be mis-identified. I have no personal experience on any Leica lenses causing a problem. If a wide was mis-identifed it could trip the wrong vignette correction which might be inconvenient but not catastrophic. 2009/2/4 Nathan Wajsman <photo@frozenlight.eu> > Thanks George, Eric and Len. > > It appears that Leica's warning is a case of wearing belt and suspenders > and can safely be ignored. > > Cheers, > Nathan > > Nathan Wajsman > Alicante, Spain > http://www.frozenlight.eu > http://www.greatpix.eu > http://www.nathanfoto.com > > Books: http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/search?search=wajsman&x=0&y=0 > PICTURE OF THE WEEK: http://www.fotocycle.dk/paws > Blog: http://www.fotocycle.dk/blog > > > > On Feb 3, 2009, at 4:52 PM, George Lottermoser wrote: > > No. >> I've used the camera as you described >> set to ON+UV/IR >> used uncoded lenses >> both with and without filters >> and >> noticed no "malfunction" >> >> Regards, >> George Lottermoser >> george@imagist.com >> http://www.imagist.com >> http://www.imagist.com/blog >> http://www.linkedin.com/in/imagist >> >> On Feb 3, 2009, at 1:36 AM, Nathan Wajsman wrote: >> >> So, just curious: has any M8 owner experienced any such "malfunction" >>> referred to in the manual? >>> >> >> >> _______________________________________________ >> Leica Users Group. >> See http://leica-users.org/mailman/listinfo/lug for more information >> > > > _______________________________________________ > Leica Users Group. > See http://leica-users.org/mailman/listinfo/lug for more information > -- Cheers Geoff Weather is here, wish you were beautiful
