In the early 1970's I lived a couple of years in Campbell Road E3 (Tower Hamlets aka East End) while working in London and often took a saturday or sunday walk through Bow to Poplar and to Isle of Dogs tunnel, and then walked under the Thames to Greenwich for a walk in the somewhat fresher air. I was back there a couple of years ago and hardly recognised anything of the East End and the Docklands, there were still some real people there in the seventies.
