Now, wrt the look of this watch made by Damasko it looks like they've got it 
right.
 
BTW, the Mark XI was made specifically for the RAF, RAAF and the South 
African Air Force starting in 1948 (Broad Arrows and all) and was
not extensively finished. The focus was on accuracy, readability and 
durability. In other words; simple and effective.
