As much as I travel, that has been one of the greatest advantages to
digital. I used to dread going through security, all of the
questions and assurances that my film would not be harmed by x-ray
and trying to argue that I knew better. In all of that travel, the
only places that have refused to allow hand inspection of the film
were Russia, Israel, and Heathrow. I did have film ruined by
x-rays. Now I don't have to dread the confrontation with the
security people. My cameras, cards, batteries, and computer all go
through with no problem. My knees are now the ones that require
extra inspection, wanding, and pat-downs! Travel is still not fun,
but it's better than with film.
