Thanks for looking, George. The posted images of course have had some  
sharpening applied to them, but when I look at the DNG files from the  
M8 in LR, before I do anything to them, they already have more detail  
than the E3 files that have already been treated. Let me put it this  
way: any softness in an M8 image is due to operator error (and yes, of  
course I had a few of those today); while softness in my E3 or  
(earlier) Canon images was just as often due to the inherent  
characteristics of the AF.
