Both Blurb and iPhoto Books are retail front ends to a network of commercial 
printers around the world who do the actual printing.

All of the printers use HP Indigo series presses, and by now most of them 
have upgraded to the third-generation, of which the Indigo 5500 is a good 
example.

I do not know if Blurb uses the UV Coater accessory to the Indigo press. 
This is a separate box that applies a UV-resistant coating to the finished 
printed page. If they do, then the page is (per HP) rated for 75 years 
without significant color fade.
