The only time I've seen people so moved by a newly-elected president was JFK. And in photos I've seen of crowds listening to FDR. I'd add the Robert Kennedy campaign, too. Some of that feeling is bound to be disappointed over time. Realpolitik can be awfully, well, *real*, and we are in a heap of trouble right now. But still, there is a sense of a truly historical moment, and in the sense of possibility, there truly is possibility. --Peter At 09:02 AM 11/8/2008 -0800, you wrote: >a feeling now that reminds me of the possibilities made palpable by JFK, > >Steve > > >On Nov 6, 2008, at 10:03 AM, Lottermoser George wrote: > > > Thank you Steve. > > I find myself a tad surprised > > at how similar the feel > > between the > > 60's sense of hope and change > > and > > 08's sense of hope and change > > > > My body seems to age and disintegrate > > around a youthful and immortal soul > > > > Fond regards, > > George
