We have had a Ruby Throat female guarding our two feeders for a couple of months. She seldom lets another bird share "her" food. This week, with more birds showing up, she has been overwhelmed and has reluctantly let some others eat. I saw one male today stay and eat for a full two minutes, as if he was ending a long, hungry day. I have placed the feeders near windows so that we can see the activity, but have had no luck shooting through the closeup windows. Today, with the increase in activity, I cleaned a storm door pane and stood behind the door post, using it as a blind, already focused on the white spot on the feeder. Then, all I had to do was get off a hand-held group of shots as the bird approached and made a decision on which feeding hole to sample. I agree, Tina, they do move fast!
