The only difference is the cost... in the old days, a roll of film was maybe
$!0 with processing, today, trying out a few cameras is a major fiscal
decision!  ( Even if rented!)

And then you must decide what SW program to use... another few thou......

So after working all these critters in the field it comes down to,  
"what do you want to see on the print and how will you achieve it?"  
Just like the old days - pick your film - pick your developer - pick  
your gear and try say something with it.
