The strange thing, for me, about this dialogue:
Yes. The 5D (and even the 20D) performs remarkably well at 1600 (and  
apparently the D3 - D300 even better and higher). Yet, I prefer  
working the Leica ccd at lower iso's with faster primes and even  
adding light if necessary to achieve my aesthetic goals.

So after working all these critters in the field it comes down to,  
"what do you want to see on the print and how will you achieve it?"  
Just like the old days - pick your film - pick your developer - pick  
your gear and try say something with it.
