George... no argument here..... your experience counts.... and may be
technically valid that CCD sensors are superior to CMOS sensors.... ( I am
not knowledgeable enough to determine this..) 

I do not want people thinking wrongly with respect to technology.  The
sensor is not the only item in the chain that creates images......  and
therefore, is not the only item that determines image quality....

George has one really good point.. try before you buy.....  YMMV.

While I do not doubt your expertise in these matters;
In my practical experience, using numerous cmos and ccd based cameras,
I've consistently found the ccd based cameras superior in the  
qualities I look for in an image:
        dynamic range
        color fidelity
        fine detail
YMMV
