ha!  i have an old hp 4000 printer which i  love because, though
you cannot print a picture with it,  you
can ignore it completely for a month and when you need it, it just
prints.  i don't have to clean the heads a dozen times or
feed it ink cartriges.  this has been my unhappy legacy of
a couple of epsons and hp printers.

i was even thinking of a color laser as a compromise.
we have an hp 3800 at work, which produces color prints that
look somewhere in the quality range of a glossy magazine; that is, 
not quite photo quality but not that bad, considering that it always 
just works. (either that or the i.t. guys are going a great job 
of refilling it at night)
