They get first-rate sensor research and additional market entrees, especially medical imaging. If I had to take a wild guess, the one thing that wouldn't fit in this purchase would be the remaining film business. If such a purchase would follow in the examples of other corporate acquisitions, the legacy film division might be sold to another entity. Fuji/Kodak film, anyone? At the LHSA presentations, we heard from a Kodak representative that "nobody at Kodak wants to be known as the person who killed Kodachrome." If the film division were under a different corporate entity, that might not be the case.
