Jack,

R glass(es) is not always as bad as its reputation will have it to be - 
it  allows you to shoot things Ms won't - watch THIS 
<http://gallery.leica-users.org/d/84335-1/PAW-20-For-Rose.jpg> for 
instance, and if you wait long enough for all the pixels to download, 
you'll be able to judge for yourself. Different uses require different 
tools. :-)
