Mark, all of those Euro camera companies are incestuous. This probably
belongs on the Rollei list but I fear that it is moribund.

Information by Paul Burrows of Camera Australia magazine.

"Hy6 is a Rolleiflex. It's built by the company which inherited the marque
after what was once known as Rollei was split into two
completely separate entities. Inside the Hy6 is essentially the innards of
the 6008AF, but the new camera has been designed from the
ground up to integrate more seamlessly with digital capture backs. The major
difference is that the Hy6 doesn't incorporate a film
transport motor so its more conventionally box form than the 6008AF. The Hy
is short for hybrid because the camera will accept a
6x6cm film magazine (just as soon as soon as Franke & Heideke get around to
making one). Development of the Hy6 was largely funded
by Jenoptik, a German technology company which is now the sole owner of
Sinar. This is why the Hy6 will be badged Sinar, although
Leaf will also market the camera as a platform for its latest generation of
Aptus capture backs. It's likely that there will
eventually be a model with the Rolleiflex nameplate, probably arriving at
the same time as the film magazine becomes available.
Still with us?
As a result of the Jen-Optik tie up Sinar has become the exclusive
distributor of Rolleiflex professional cameras worldwide (the
shortened Rollei name now used by somebody else.....".
In the article Paul suggests that there may have been only 500 or less of
the 6008AF made.

Cheers
Hoppy

What I forgot to mention and what I found interesting about this ad on the
4th page of the just out PDN is that its Sinar Bron Imaging
And no mention no where no how of Rollei anywhere on the page.
Or Franke & Heidecke,
Or Franke & Johnny.

Like there is when you go to the page at the top of the search list on the
internet.
http://www.sinarbron.com/sinar/digital/Hy6.php

And they admit to knowing such people about one paragraph down.

I don't see it on the camera either.
It says "Sinar" in Swiss Modern Sans.

I have a bigger connection to Rollei.
And "Sinar" has always seemed a bit high pie in the sky to me.

In response to the age old question which is better Leica or Hasselblad?
I always answer "Sinar".
Or "Linhof" actually half the time.

But I manage to those images out of the front of my mind.

But watch me sleep you'll see I twitch a lot.
