Dear Eric

Physiotherapy and painkillers first (I'm a GP in England and you have to
wait for physio here). But actually I've known some patients have to go to
surgery quite quickly and do very well. Most important thing is to
recognise warning signs of spinal cord compression (your specialist will
have told you).

Get well soon

Matthew

looking for sympathy and opinions.
I herniated my L4-5 disc this weekend.
Pain I NEVER knew existed.. Though a friend says childbirth is still worse.

Everyone I talked to (including my neurosurgeon) says conservative therapy
is the rule.
"Hold off from surgery - it will get better. Surgery is an absolute last
resort."

Experiences?

WTB: a new back

Eric
