Mainly for two reasons: the fact that they generate clean energy; and many of them are made by Vestas, a Danish company that was one of pioneers of commercial wind energy. They put three new ones up near a motorway entrance I pass every day--it is amazing how huge these things are when you see them on the ground. Unfortunately the work was taking place at a place where it was impossible to stop to take pictures.
