Bob,
So, nothing firm just more rumors.  Nikon would be nuts to come out with a
"near" full frame sensor.  They have spent years developing a very
respectable line of DX lenses that would not work on the new camera.  You
can barely get the 28-70 2.8 and the 14mm is almost impossible to find so
again, wide angle would be a problem.  I agree that a D3 will be coming soon
as the D2 is just not competitive compared with the D200(price/performance)
ratio and the whole crop thing for high speed shooting.
