It has happened maybe three times, mostly when trying to take a photo immediately after turn on or accessing the menu. I don't do that any more. The other problem I didn't mention was the camera caused my SD card to fill up and become unusable forever after. It wouldn't format in or out of the camera. If you tried the camera would just blink forever. Another card worked. Not quite like your problem but related to the memory card circuits in my estimation. I take it yours is still broken.
