I am thinking that it is an electrical microswitch thing.  This is  
the later TE (49 mm).  The framelines change correctly.  I will  
probably have to send both the camera and lens to NJ.  Oh...

But, it is more of a nuisance than a real issue with the images.  The  
cyan vignette is removed accurately at 28 and 35 mm, and at 50 mm  
there isn't any vignette anyway.

BTW, you can watch the vignette being removed in the playback  
screen.  When you view an image you see the original with the cyan  
vignette.  Then about one second later, bingo! the color changes and  
the cyan is gone.
