Ugly brutes, but effective - No real reason for A-10s to be deployed in
Iraq, UK Challengers and US Abrams MBTs had an easy job of mopping up
what was left of the Iraqi armour which was almost decimated in the
first round held in Kuwait.
Douglas

BTW, an A-10 pilot destroyed two British Warrior APCs (4th Armoured
Brigade) in GW I , 9 dead, the highest Brit casualties in any one
individual action, 9 out of a total of 17 throughout the liberation of
Kuwait. Casualties in all: UK 17, US 79 and other allies 30. Iraqis had
around 100,000 dead and 175,000 POWs) - no wonder the Iraqis want
revenge in round two
