Subject: [Leica] Questions on Digilux 2/LC1

            Rob

I have and use the LC1 with the fixed Summicron Lens - its M
style - lighter than your
normal Ms - then I got the Canon 20D with the Zoom 17-85 lens

By comparision - the LC1 pictures were better and sharper that
the Canon

The only disadvantage I can see with the LC1 is its fixed lens -
other wise its as good
            as any

Unable to afford an M8 or R-D1 at this time, I would like an M-style
digital camera to replace my old Panasonic LC5 (LikeaLeica) for
walk-around digital. A number of used, reasonably priced Digilux
2's/LC1's are for sale on and off this list. Can any of you provide
thoughts about how the Digilux 2/LC1 handles and performs compared to
the old Digilux 1/ LC5 ? Is the body more solid? Is it thinner? How
about low light picture quality? Are any of you still regularly using
a Digi 2/ LC1?

P.S. Sorry about Frank Zappa/Husky reference, I couldn't help myself.
