The 442 is an interesting one, IMHO should have a little more onthe left side and a little less on the right side. I understand that's no easy to shot in certain ambients, I think the only way is shot, shot, and shot. I really think that this helps a lot. If I had the time to approach and intimate with the people, this is the best way to do a good document, as Tina do in Guatemala, or Tarek has do in Chatila, Steve on the the Hospital etc.. I "envy" them to have these kind of opportunities. On my case I usually take "images ? la sauvette", I don't know how to say it in English, there is not a conscius target to document a subject like the mentionned ones. Firstly, I don't think I would have got this one if I went in head on: > <http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Hugh+Thompson/Street/ > L1000442.jpg.html she would most certainly have changed her expression You could be right about this one: > <http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/Hugh+Thompson/Street/ > L1000438.jpg.html> I might still have been able to get the expression on his face, don't know - as for 431, you are correct, I am not happy with it and it should not be there. Also - as some others have commented, this is a rough part of town, and I did not want to display the camera in the normal way, so I used a more surreptitious method with high speed and a quick shot in the general direction from the camera cradled in my arm. If that is "timid" the answer is yes. However, the style and confidence can be improved, of course. Good discussion though Hugh On 12-Apr-07, at 5:19 PM, Luis Ripoll wrote: > Hugh, The first one is the best for me, I think because you have > realized a front approach to the subject, an open approach, on the > others it seems to me you was "timid" to be discovered photographing > them, showing a certain degree of indecision focusing the subjects. _______________________________________________ Leica Users Group.
