English is not even my third language... But using the filters, firstly, images come up consistently sharper, due to the reduction of the out of focus IR glow. The IR focal plane is somewhat different than the one in visible light, so there is a superposition of the unsharp near-IR and sharp visible-light images when you don't use the IRcut filters, and this shows up as an OOF glow around IR reflecting objects, typically foliage. Secondly, i find also consistently that colours both in natural light and in artificial light other than fluorescent are always very slightly off. You notice this especially when comparing two images with and without the filter mounted. So, I think the filters, even without firmware 1.10 yet, are a must. I have yet to find an inner surface glare/reflection so strong as to totally handicap a photograph or even to be noticed. Just my experiece, YMMV, etc. Best, Ed El 03/04/2007, a las 17:46, Lottermoser George escribi?: > I'm not sure it's a a matter of smart or not smart. > > I think it will come down to a matter of "taste," subject matters, > and working variables. > > I have not yet received my filters, but I have the feeling, without > having tested them within my work flow, that I'll be one of the "on > and off according to conditions" types. > > However, I'm totally open to being wowed by the "improvement" > within my current methodology and may very well become and "always > on" kind of M8 user. > > We have yet to see what the 1.10 firmware will add to the mix. > Rumor has it that with 1.10 firmware coding and IR filtration will > become "the" required working method for maximum quality.
