Looking at the instructions and my own experience with this strap. Since the strap is also held internal to the loop, even if the plastic collar would break, it still should have been held by the metal loop. Since he could not find the loop to verify it had failed, I read his orignal post on the RFF, there is no real way to determine just what/where the failure was. This is not a cheap shot just a valid question, especially from the excellent history of this strap for reliability. It is also irresponcible to blame the damaged camera on Leica quality failure or lack of quality without proper investigation and evidence.
