Recommendations are important to follow. I know if I had a M8, I certainly
would follow the manufacturer's advice.

I looked it up on the WEB... there are indeed several sources for
information on this issue... mostly from companies that make
cleaning apparatus.... None from Leica or Canon or Nikon nor anyone else
that should know and print the issues and answers ( at
least none that I could find.).

#1 it can't hurt to turn the camera off when changing lenses.
#2 it might actually be true about the charge...

So keep turning off your M8 when changing lenses.....you may avoid some dust
on the sensor....it can't hurt.

Well, Leica recommends not having the camera on when changing lenses,
the sensor is apparently "charged" and attractive to dust, so
perhaps ......
