Frank.. this is a stretch.

If you were to examine a frame by frame comparison of a Minox negative with 
proper film to the P+S Digicams, I think you would find
out that most of the "quality" that comes from the Digicam is from eye image 
retention not the "quality" of the sensor..

 It is perfectly clear that digital sensors are,  
size for size, way better than film -



 anybody who has used a premium  
miniature camera such as a minox will have noticed this, P&S digicams  
have sensors a tiny fraction of the size of the minox negative yet  
give obviously superior results.
