Leo,

Depending on how much you want to spend etc. Hotels in London are
normally expensive relative to what you get, compared with most places
on the Continent. When I go there, I prefer to spend my money on other
things, so I tend towards the Holiday Inn Express chain--they are rarely
in the nicest of locations, but they do tend to be close to Tube
stations, so getting into the city is never an issue. On my last visit
to London, I stayed at the one on Victoria Road in North Acton
(convenient because I was coming by car from the west). The North Acton
Tube station was 50 meters behind the hotel. My rate was 65 pound/night
for a double room, with breakfast.

There are others that are closer to the center of the city. The Holiday
Inn Express is like McDonalds--no great experience, but you will not be
poisoned, the room will be clean etc. Since I don't look to the hotel
for anything but a comfortable night's sleep, this is fine for me. The
only amenity I really use is in hotels is WiFi internet, and those have it.
