Anyone interested in sports photography should read the article "The 
Last Hurrah" in this month's Smithsonian Magazine (July 2006). It 
describes Nat Fein's reasoning in taking the picture of Babe Ruth's 
last public appearance - the day they retired his number. The picture 
is technically mediocre but emotionally devastating.
