Daniel,
The Panasonic offering has a Leica branded lens on it so technically Leica
has embraced the 4/3 system. I am still not sanguine as to the fortunes of
the 4/3 system. In the U.S. Olympus has good sales of the E-500 two lens
kit as the dealers did a bait and switch using Nikon co-op dollars. Nikon
will not stand for that this year with some severly tightened rules on co-op
use.

Canon as well has awakened from it's slumber and is actually actively
promoting it's products at the retail level with dollars. Most specialty
retailers avoided actually selling Canon products as the margins were among
the lowest and the dollars to the sales force was small to non-existant.
That is not the case anymore so boxes out the door should improve markedly.

Last, there is an independant manufacturer selling a real time LCD viewer
for all dSLR's that works on the same principle as the Olympus but the ccd
is at the eyepiece instead of internal. So now any SLR can be continuously
viewed.

Of course, if some really bright design/engineering team can solve the
relaive noise issue of smaller chips with out softening the details in the
noise reduction software then the 4/3 chip will do well. It really comes
down to good enough. Kodachrome made 35mm good enough compared to medium
format so who knows where this will all lead.

To some degree I am torn as smaller, easier, more shots has usually been a
pretty good marketing tool. But like many on the list, I can not adjust to
the Olympus offering and the 1 sec I had the Panasonice it didn't work for
me either.
