A proper charger should stop charging when it detects that the battery is fully charged, not just by using a timer. Most chargers on the market do not do this, and end up over charging, overheating the batteries, destroying them. -----Original Message----- From: lug-bounces+ken=iisaka.org@leica-users.org [mailto:lug-bounces+ken=iisaka.org@leica-users.org] On Behalf Of D Khong Sent: Wednesday, May 10, 2006 7:12 PM To: lug@leica-users.org Subject: [Leica] Re: OT: Ni-MH battery woes LUGgers I have NiMH batteries that I would like to keep charged so that I can use them anytime. Problem is they seem to get memory effect and one fine day they conk out! We used to have the problem with NiCads and I thought that the NIMH should fare better. I am aware that one should charge and discharge these batteries so that they last longer. In practice, one usually likes to have the security of having a few fully charged cells in the bag. How do you folks get around this problem that I have encountered? Dan K. _______________________________________________ Leica Users Group.
