If you scan your film, the C-41 B&W films scan very nicely. And you can use
scratch/dust removal software in the scanner.

Guess I should break down ad give it a try. I'd done some of the old 
color/b&w from some years back and was disappointed but times 
change.I'll shoot some and post it.
