The first shots you showed on the LUG (was it just 2 shots?) had these very nice, rich saturated colors. It gave those pics a certain signature. So did what I recall was a more or less formal composition. These pics don't enjoy the same color "quality" or signature or whatever, and the pics have verticals going every which way. The messy setting also detracts greatly compared, again, to the first two pics. The first pics were like very professionally done family portraits - but with nasty guns :-) I think that's what caused such a strong impression. IMHO (FWIW, etc.), I think you should strive for the same sort of formality (setting and composition) along with a the color signature of the earliest photos you posted. Fantastic project.
