We used to do the same on the East Coast, the beast tended to wallow a bit, nothing for the faint of stomach, and they weren't partial to salt water either. If the Stalwart in Blackpool was painted bright yellow it may be the one I saw many years ago near Bispham, and again, along the coast near Heysham- oh how I loved that refreshing nettle beer.
