You can download Vuescan from:

http://www.hamrick.com/

Mind you, there are other people who will swear at Vuescan. It doesn't
have the friendliest interface, but everything is out there so you can
adjust what you want.

I think this site uses Vuescan in some of its tutorials:

http://www.scantips.com/

One way or another, if you scroll down you will see that it has a page
for Vuescan, among other software products (and scanners).

There is a lot of useful information there when you're getting started
on something new.
