One of the reasons I bought it (had a Canon 20D before) was that it is designed to be used in muggy environments--it has good weather sealing, and so do most of the Canon L lenses. I have used it in pretty heavy rain, and the weather sealing definitely works. The only ill effect have been the rain drops on the glass, because I hate the huge Canon lens hoods and leave them at home most of the time. Nathan Robert D.
