The lens is sharp, color balance is good, handling is pretty good, though it is a fairly large P&S. Frankly, I see the E-500 as real alternative to the C8080 or any other P&S; interchangeable lenses, great built-in flash, light, nice ergonomics, DSLR, definitely useable at 800 iso, all adjustments, but it can also be used on an "automatic setting" - distinct from "program" - with which the flashs automatically comes up and fires if necessary (total moron P&S setting) - all for $799 with kit lens.
