Mostly to put modern lubricants on the helicals as all my old Serenars benefited greatly from new lubricants. As to the Nikkors, if you have a truly talented tech who understands how to properly put a lens back together then you might do the Nikkors. Why you ask? These lenses were assembled by some nice young ladies with variable quality control; the lens might look good but spacing could be off or elements not centered properly. So, a talented tech who knows how the lens should be could make you shooting pleasure a pleasure instead of a hit or miss proposition. I learned this when I had two 50 1.4's, one was a dog and the other was truly outstanding.
